
Medals, awards, citations and badges of the Fifth Ranger Battalion.
A comprehensive list of combat and administrative medals and awards can be earned by all individuals of the unit when they meet the criteria of the achievements, listed below:

Distinguished Service Cross
The highest honor attainable within the 5th Ranger Battalion. Exceptional in every regard, going above and beyond the call of duty. Showing exceptional leadership skills and impeccable dedication towards the unit.
The Distinguished Service Cross can only be awarded once every six months, a vote of candidates will be announced every period.

Distinguished Service Medal
Awarded to individuals who have carried out duty successfully and responsibly, providing meritorious service in a administrative capacity; contributions going above and beyond the expectations of any Ranger within the 5th Ranger Battalion.

Silver Star
Awarded for demonstrating perfect performance whilst engaging the enemy, that not only single-handedly secured victory for his team, but demonstrated the core principles of being an effective soldier of the 5th Ranger Battalion. This medal is only awarded when the soldier's performance is of the highest calibre.

Legion of Merit
Awarded for meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services of a special administrative requirement or of an extremely difficult duty performed in a clearly exceptional manner.

Soldier's Medal
Awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional leadership capabilities during combat or non-combat situations, and does so repeatedly.

Bronze Star
Awarded for demonstrating exemplary performance while engaging the enemy. While not single-handedly securing victory, his actions had a significant impact in combat.
A bronze “V” device attachment is presented with the Bronze Star for actions of valor in combat not equal to the Silver Star.

Purple Heart
Awarded to soldiers that selflessly put themselves in peril to successfully aid his comrades and in doing so was wounded or killed in action.

Army Commendation Medal
Awarded to individuals who distinguished themselves by providing administrative work, logistical support, training or other contributions that enhance the effectiveness of the unit.
A bronze “V” device attachment is presented with the Army Commendation Medal for maintaining composure and making an effective contribution towards his teams victory without necessarily engaging the enemy.

Prisoner of War Medal
Awarded to soldiers who successfully liberate, or who have been liberated as, or capture a prisoner of war during a realism event.

Good Conduct Medal
Awarded to soldiers who have served the past three consecutive months whilst performing duties with a clean record of discipline and exemplary attendance. May also be awarded to those that perform their duties whilst displaying a positive attitude and involvement during unit related activities, other than drills or staff commitments.

World War 1 Victory Medal
Awarded to soldiers that participated and were victorious at least once in an attack or defense round during a multi-round scrimmage.

World War 1 Occuptation Medal
Awarded for one year of consecutive service.

American Defense Service Medal
Awarded upon graduation of Ranger Candidate Training School.
A silver star attachment is presented to a Candidate that graduated as an Honorary Private First Class.
A bronze star attachment is present to those that re-enlisted back into active duty from retirement.

Army Corps Service Medal
Awarded to individuals who provide a recognisable service or financial contribution to the unit.

American Campaign Medal
Awarded to soldiers that have successfully graduated Non-Commissioned Officer Candidate School.

European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal
Awarded to soldiers that participated in a realism scrimmage within the European Theatre of Operations.

World War 2 Victory Medal
Awarded to soldiers that participated in a multi-round scrimmage in which the 5th Ranger Battalion were victorious in every round.

World War 2 Occupation Medal
Awarded for three months of consecutive service.

French Croix de Guerre Medal
Awarded to individuals for exceptional contributions and extensive preparation during practice or drills prior to a scrimmage or drill that prevented casualties by providing vital intelligence or training for his team.

Belgian Croix de Guerre Medal
Awarded to individuals that displayed exceptional leadership abilities during training or combat in a scrimmage or drills.

Combat Infantryman Badge
Awarded to soldiers of the 5th Ranger Battalion that have participated as an infantryman with satisfactory combat performance under enemy fire in a scrimmage.
First Award: Presented after 1 time in active combat with the enemy.
Second Award: Presented after 3 times in active combat with the enemy.
Third Award: Presented after 5 times in active combat with the enemy.
Fourth Award: Presented after 7 times in active combat with the enemy.

Expert Infantryman Badge
Awarded to those who prove themselves experts in all aspects of Infantry.
Soldiers of the 5th Ranger Battalion who have earned this badge have priority in participating in combat against another realism unit.




Combat Medical Badge
Awarded to soldiers of the 5th Ranger Battalion that have participated as a medic with satisfactory performance under enemy fire in a scrimmage.
First Award: Presented after 1 time in active combat with the enemy.
Second Award: Presented after 3 times active combat with the enemy.
Third Award: Presented after 5 times in active combat with the enemy.
Fourth Award: Presented after 7 times in active combat with the enemy.




Combat Action Badge
Awarded by Ranger Recruitment Staff to a member of the 5th Ranger Battalion who have successfully recruited a number of Ranger Candidates that graduate Ranger Candidate Training School.
First Award: Presented after 3 referred Candidates graduate RCTS.
Second Award: Presented after 5 referred Candidates graduate RCTS.
Third Award: Presented after 7 referred Candidates graduate RCTS.
Fourth Award: Presented after 10 referred Candidates graduate RCTS.



Expert, Sharpshooter and Marksman Proficiency Badges
Awarded to soldiers who demonstrate consistent proficiency and skill with a special weapon.
The Rifle qualification bar is the first bar to be awarded to soldiers upon graduating Ranger Candidate Training School. Other qualification bars can be earned after steady use and success with the following weapons:
Automatic Rifle, Carbine, Flamethrower, Grenade, Machine Gun,
Pistol, Rocket, Shotgun, Sub Machine Gun and Sniper Rifle.

Overseas Service Bar
Awarded to soldiers that participated within a European Theatre of Operations campaign. An extra bar is added to the individuals uniform after each campaign served.

Service Stripe
Awarded to members for one year of consecutive service. An extra stripe is added to the individuals uniform after each year served on active duty.

Hell Let Loose Unit Participation Citation
Awarded to soldiers that participated in the Hell Let Loose Unit campaign.

Meritorious Unit Citation
Awarded to the most exemplary and skilled squad in the Company.
Identification Badges.

Ranger Scroll
The highly coveted Ranger Scroll. The distinctive shoulder sleeve insignia worn by members of the 5th Ranger Battalion Unit. Earned upon graduating Ranger Candidate Training School.

Military Police Badge
Worn by members of the Military Police.

Recruiter Badge
Worn by members of the Recruitment Staff.

Drill Instructors Badge
Worn by Ranger Candidate Training School Drill Instructors.

"Ruptured Duck" Pin
Worn by members of the 5th Ranger Battalion that resigned of their own accord and in good standing and were Honorably Discharged after three or more months of active service.
